But, the quality of the food and the attentive service justified the price. The meal was appropriate for a special occasion and everyone was glad we stopped there. Those who ordered a Salad were very happy with it as were my daughter and niece who ordered the standard Mac & Cheese. The pasta was well cooked and the dish was very good. I did the "build your own" with Fettuccine, Basil & Olive Oil. Our food arrived in good time and portions were ample. The Bread was warm and delicious, especially dipped in the Olive Oil. And our group definitely can try a server's patience. We were seated quickly and our server was very helpful in the ordering process. The atmosphere was comfortable, although if you get chilly in restaurants, you probably want to bring a sweater or light. Macaroni Grill is my daughter's favorite restaurant and since she had just finished her first Marathon, that's where we went. Desyiah apologized.ĭesyiah was top notch and the food was good but everything else was a disaster. Not once did the manager come by and apologize. By the time we paid the bill, we had been there for 2 hours and 45 minutes. I ordered a beer and after we were finished eating and ready to pay, the beer showed up. Desyiah said our order should be ready in about 8 minutes. Another 20 minutes passed and we asked if we could just pull our order. We asked if that meant our order would be at the bottom but somehow they were able to tell where we should have been in the queue. She had taken our food order and after we had been there 90 minutes and still no food (no one had ordered anything special), she had the unpleasant task of telling us that their computer system had crashed and our order, along with others, had been lost. She brought us bread twice while we were waiting for the drinks. When she took our drink order she advised us that the bar was behind. She has no control over the bartender or the kitchen but she and the other servers are the ones who had to face lots of unhappy customers. Desyiah was pleasant, very cool and calm in a terrible situation, professional and did her very best. When the group next to us left, she asked if we would like to move. They initially had seated five of us at a table for four. Our waitress, Desyiah, was one of the few bright spots. Since it was Christmas and there simply are not that many options to make a last minute change, we decided to wait it out. It was 5:30pm, they were just leaving, and said they had been there since 2pm. Our second clue that this was not going to be a wonderful experience came from the comments made by the table next to us. She stated the obvious-they were running behind. The waiting area was packed and the poor hostess was doing her level best to deal with customers standing in front of her, angry people waiting, and the phone ringing off the hook.
